DR. Kathy Mclean OBE statement on her visit to the Pythian club

I would like to thank you and all your colleagues for hosting me during my recent visit to
the Pythian Club with Mayor Claire.

I greatly appreciated the opportunity to see first-hand the important preventative work you
and your colleagues are delivering within the community. The visit provided a powerful
insight into how locally led, community-based initiatives can support people’s health and
wellbeing, particularly through early intervention, social connection and practical support.

I am very grateful to you and the team for the warm welcome I received, and for taking the
time to share your experiences, learning and aspirations for the future.
The work of the Pythian Club is an excellent example of the vital role that voluntary and
community organisations play in prevention and in tackling health inequalities across
Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
